  • 5Awesome Time!

I went with my wife and daughter and we had a blast! We saw deer, hawks, and ducks. Our guide Chewy was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the River as well as the city. I would highly recommend doing this and if I’m ever in town again I would absolutely do this again. Thanks for a great time!

  • 3Half Day rafting, Fun Family oriented, overpriced tough

We booked a half day rafting trip in Durango. Our guide was very nice and tried to make the trip fun. As 2 adults this is more a "family" "kid" oriented experience. Unfortunately the water was low so it wasn't the Wild' water experience we sought it out to be, but this is not within their control. Overall I found it too pricey for the experience. I would pay $60.00 max. a person as this is what I think is worth it. We got an hour break under a picnic ramada close to the end point of the experience and spend an hour out of the raft where we were offered a cup of luke warm water or water with lemonade powder. We weren't suppose to bring anything on this raft and for the amount we paid and the length of the trip (9-1pm) you expect to get sufficient water and snacks throughout the morning. Nada. Had we known we would have brought snacks as we were starving at the end. I can't even imagine how parents would feel about it with kids! Also, they make you wait at least 30 min at the beginning and at the end while they take the rafts in and out of the water. I suggest taking care of your guests first and drive them separate from the rafts. Nothing is far away and this will give time back to your guests instead of waiting. Overall I think its great for younger and teenage kids, maybe young adults, I suggest lower your rates, throw in some fruit/ snacks and water and soda's and ditch the 1 hour break.

  • 4Not given water bottle or snack that was mentioned in booking description

Booking description said that they supplied bottled water and a snack. All we got was fountain water at a park and no snack. I haven’t drank water from a water fountain in years because of germs, but I was so desperate for a drink that I actually did drink from it. 🤢

  • 5Great, well run...

Great, well run outfitter. Communication prior to the raft trip was prompt with clear directions. The entire crew was tight knit and worked well as a team and Eldon made sure our trip down the river was a lot of fun!! So fun seeing the area from the middle of this beautiful river. Would do it again if we had more time. Highly recommend!

  • 5Check the river water...

Check the river water level before going; low water = difficult rafting. Otherwise, the tour guides and experience were great!

  • 3Could have been better

This company is more about what they can sell you after you arrive. I wear glasses so needed to buy $10 eyeglass strap. This time if year is low water and small and not much white water that was not going to cause people to tip or fall out of raft. Then we needed to rent water shoes. Amazing that lockers to store belongings were free. We are in our 70's but very active people. They paired us with a family that had 2 young boys and put us in the seat between this family. Kids were splashing with the oars, hitting rocks with oars, hitting my oar with their oar, etc. Parents never asked them to stop. Guide didn't say a word to stop hitting thing's with the oars. Before the white water we had to sit and wait ( 15 minutes) for a photographer to come so they could take pictures and sell to us for $30 for 1 photo. We saw other tours that had nicer rafts and less people on them.

About Durango

Durango is a Wild West railroad town in south-west Colorado, on the Animas River, known for its steam train, the San Juan Mountains and nearby Mesa Verde.

Durango was founded in 1880 as a railroad town for the silver mines of the San Juan Mountains, and its Main Avenue still has Victorian brick buildings, saloons and hotels from that time. A coal-fired narrow-gauge steam train, running since 1882, chugs up the Animas River canyon to the mining town of Silverton, through scenery of high peaks and gorges.
