Highlights
In the warm and dark lagoon waters lies a natural phenomenon of glowing blue waters alive with activity. The swirling of your hand, every paddle stroke, and the rolling wake off of your kayak all sparkle throughout the darkness. Not only do fish leave trails, dolphins look like torpedoes, and manatees a slow and graceful submarine. Many guests compare the experience to Pandora of “Avatar.” Some even recall the bioluminescence scene in “Life of Pi” as the gentle plankton leave a trickling glow when you hold it in your hands and let it trickle down your arm. Though some may jokingly blame this on NASA runoff, it is actually the biological response of microscopic algae called a dinoflagellate. The perfectly natural and harmless concentration of organisms produces light before your very eyes, often existing in millions per liter of water. Your tour will include a ton of information about these rare and exotic creatures with the most experienced guides in the area

5Amazing experience
We arrived at Beacon 42 and another tour guide from a different company stated they had left without us. I contacted the number provided and got an immediate response! The guide was just further down the beach. Whew! The tour was at night with a bit of wind and chop on the lagoon. We were novice kayakers but it was manageable and we felt very safe. We had an amazing time. Jackson was a great guide and made the tour memorable. The bioluminescence was incredible. Billowy pale clouds and sparkles as we paddled. Looking at the bottom of the kayak made me feel like we were gliding through the stars. We had a mullet jump into our boat which Jackson promptly rescued. I highly recommend this tour and will bring family back to experience it next year. Worth every penny.
5Highly recommend!
We did a clear kayak bioluminescence tour with Logan and Sarah, who were excellent. We saw lots of bioluminescence and the comb jellies! Had a great time, highly recommend!
5Great nightime experience!!!!
Great experience great time to go. We saw both the luminescent alge and the comb jellyfish. Lots of fish. So cool to see the water light up with just a touch. Drew our guide was great, very knowledgeable on the ecosystem and the area. Would highly recommend.
5Experience of a lifetime
Rough start with some confusion with a change of meeting spots but glad we got to do it. Our guide Matt was very knowledgeable and patient, he took his time and showed us so many things like Jellies that glowed in our hand. We were inexperienced and over weight but it didn't make a difference, we quickly learned how to maneuver the kayak. The water was like stars in the sky under the clear bottom kayak. A manatee scared us coming up out of nowhere but that just added to the experience. You must try this. It was an experience of a lifetime!
5Breathtaking!
Our bioluminescent tour was absolutely incredible, and so much of that was because of our guide, Jared! The bioluminescent plankton and comb jellies were breathtaking on their own, but having Jared with us made the experience SO much more immersive and special. He was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, kind, and genuinely went out of his way to make sure we had the best experience possible. He shared so many little tips and tricks that we never would have known if we had tried to experience it on our own. One of my favorite moments was when Jared gave his net to our daughter so she could catch the comb jellies herself. It absolutely made her night, and it was such a thoughtful gesture that she’ll remember. You can tell Jared truly loves what he does and loves sharing it with people. He didn’t just guide us through the experience—he made it an adventure we’ll be talking about for a long time. I would not hesitate for a second to book this experience. I would go again in a heartbeat, and if we do, we’ll absolutely be requesting Jared! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5Amazing, a real dream experience.
This was my second time using A Day Away to do this experience and it was just as breathtaking as the first time. The weather was not good on the day of my trip and I was very impressed with how quickly and efficiently the tour guides communicated with us about what the status was on having to cancel or not. I’m so glad the storm passed, leaving clear moonlight. It was my boyfriend’s first time and he had such fun being able to touch glowing sea jellies and hold them in his hand. We both love the magical feeling this experience has and recommend this to everyone we know. The tour guides were telling us all about the wildlife as well as cracking some very “dad” jokes. They are very knowledgeable about the creatures and share that love and respect with the guests. I thought I was going to have to visit the Maldives to experience this wonder, but here it is so close to home and very reasonably priced for something that will take your breath away. I hope to be able to do this again, I will bring extra bug spray next time, lol.
