About Camden
Camden is a harbour town on Penobscot Bay on the Maine coast, with sailing schooners, hills above the water and a village of white clapboard houses.
Camden sits on Penobscot Bay in Maine's Midcoast, where the Camden Hills come down to the harbour. A small river drops over a falls into the harbour, which is crowded with yachts and traditional schooners; windjammers sail from here on cruises among the islands. The village has brick shops, white clapboard houses, and a library and amphitheatre overlooking the water. The 1957 film Peyton Place was shot in the town.
