About Bonn
Bonn is a Rhine city, Beethoven's birthplace and the former capital of West Germany, with a university housed in a baroque palace.
Bonn lies on the Rhine south of Cologne and was the capital of West Germany from 1949 until reunification in 1990. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in the town in 1770, and his birthplace on Bonngasse is now a museum. The Münster, a Romanesque and Gothic basilica, stands in the centre, and the old Town Hall on the market square is rococo.
