5ABC Reef Safari, snorkelling on Great Barrier Reef
We took our 7 and 12 year old on ABC Reef Safari's today and the trip exceeded our expectations! Everything was completely smooth, leaving the marina, arriving at the first stop and breaking into groups of 5 with our own guide. Shane stayed with us, regularly talking about the different fish and coral types, checking in on us and the kids and being so flexible. It felt like we were on a cruise with old friends, the other passengers were also very relaxed. We moved onto a lagoon section which was epic! The water was warmer and shallower and marine life abundant! We saw several giant clams, a reef shark and dolphins! The crew were so easy going and organised and the limited number of passengers (who were all snorkelling, no divers) made everything simple. No huge crowds to swim through. Worth every penny to spend the extra and experience such wonderful service on an exceptionally comfortable catamaran and spectacular reef snorkelling. Thank you guys, we will most definitely be back!
5Go with the best, it’s as easy as ABC
Two excellent days diving with ABC. Friendly, knowledgeable , helpful staff. Great equipment and boats. Personalised service, my wife had dived off one of the bigger boats before and didn’t enjoy the day, she is very impressed with ABC. If you want to be more than a number and have a fantastic day you can’t go wrong with ABC Reef Safaris.
5The best! Just book it!
It would be hard for me to imagine that there could be a better Great Barrier Reef excursion operator than ABC Safaris! Our boat had the most amazing crew (Harry, Alex, Gabe, Shane, and Tahn)…great hosts, friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, all the things! The food was plentiful and delicious with good variety. My husband said his snorkel was like being in a documentary and had an amazing time! We especially loved that each guide was assigned to no more than 6 people; our group only had 4 people. Our guide, Harry, was really great. He was so patient and encouraging with me. I was terrified (1st time snorkeling and not a fan of any water without visible “boundaries”, meaning I only like bathtubs and pools) and wasn’t even going to get off of the boat, but Harry didn’t let me get away with that! He coaxed me into the water and stayed right by my side the entire snorkel (his version may involve a death grip on his arm at 1st and then me hanging on to the flotation device while he pulled me around on it, barely controlling my panic attack, but it really is his word against mine since everyone else was too busy looking underwater to pay attention to us, so…). Seriously though, I was grateful for his kindness and patience; without it, I would have missed out on the opportunity to snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef!
5ABC or nothing!
Move over, every other boat trip, because ABC Reef Safaris just ruined all future vacations for us! Calling this a "snorkeling tour" feels like an understatement—it was more like a VIP backstage pass to the Great Barrier Reef. With only about 20 of us on board, the crew didn't just herd us into the water; they basically gave us a bespoke underwater experience. The real flex? Our 6-person groups were guided by a squad of dive masters and actual, real-life marine biologists. We weren't just splashing around; we were getting an elite-tier private tour of once-in-a-lifetime ocean real estate. The captains and crew were absolute legends—attentive, wildly knowledgeable, and apparently obsessed with cleanliness. The boat was in pristine, sparkling condition, and the gear was so immaculate I’m convinced it was unwrapped just for us. The food was delicious and the conversation a very witty light hearted banter. If the universe ever aligns to bring us back to Port Douglas, there is zero competition. It’s ABC or nothing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5Awesome snorkeling outing and fantastic crew
What a great adventure! The boat is top notch and the crew was especially nice and helpful. Kudos to Alex, he helped my wife out when she got in the water, as it was a bit rough and she was afraid. He calmed her down and helped ensure she had a nice snorkeling experience. Captain Tahn and Callie were very special and the whole experience was worth every penny spent. I can’t say enough about how helpful and knowledgeable the crew was and would book again in a heartbeat! Don’t let the cost scare you away, it’s totally worth it!
5Truly professional and helping
The team at SBC were incredible. True pros and as a guest we were treated to small groups with an experienced Marine biologist to help understand the stories of the Great Barrier Reef. Highly recommended by my wife and I.

About Port Douglas
Port Douglas is a relaxed seaside town on Queensland's tropical coast, set between the Daintree rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
Port Douglas began as a gold-rush port in the 1870s and is now an easygoing resort town on a spit of land between the Coral Sea and Dickson Inlet. Four Mile Beach curves away to the north fringed with palms, Macrossan Street holds the cafés and restaurants, and Flagstaff Hill gives a view over the beach and the mountains behind.
