About Isola d'Elba
Elba is the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago, with beaches, mountain trails, old iron mines and the villas where Napoleon lived in exile.
Elba lies off the Tuscan coast, the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago and the third largest in Italy. Its main town, Portoferraio, is a harbour ringed by Medici fortresses, and above it stand the villas where Napoleon lived during his exile in 1814 and 1815. The island has been mined for iron since Etruscan times, and the ground near Rio Marina still shows rust-red earth.
