About Syracuse
Syracuse is a central New York city on Onondaga Lake and the Erie Canal, a former salt capital with a university hill, a lakeside park and heavy snow.
Syracuse lies at the northern end of the Finger Lakes region, beside Onondaga Lake, where salt springs once made it the Salt City. The Erie Canal ran through the middle of town, and the old Weighlock Building now houses the Erie Canal Museum. Armory Square, a district of restored brick warehouses, is lined with restaurants, and Syracuse University stands on a hill to the south-east.
