Experience the best of Napa & Sonoma
Napa and Sonoma are California's best-known wine valleys north of San Francisco, a landscape of vineyards, oak hills, small towns and tasting rooms.

Napa Valley is a narrow valley about fifty kilometres long, running north from the town of Napa through Yountville, St Helena and Calistoga, with vineyards on the valley floor and hills on either side. Sonoma Valley lies to the west, over the Mayacamas range, with the historic Sonoma Plaza, a Spanish mission and the village of Glen Ellen. Both are known worldwide for wine, especially Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the cooler parts of Sonoma.
Calistoga has hot springs, mud baths and a small geyser, Old Faithful of California. Sonoma Valley has Jack London State Historic Park, and the Russian River area, with Healdsburg's square, leads to the redwoods and the rugged Sonoma coast. Hot-air balloons float over the Napa vineyards at dawn. The Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco are an hour or so away by road.
The valleys have a farm-to-table tradition, with local cheese, olive oil, oysters from Tomales Bay, Dungeness crab in winter and sourdough bread. Wild mustard flowers cover the vineyards yellow in late winter, and the grape harvest in autumn is the busiest and most colourful time. Summers are warm and dry, with foggy mornings.
