Boracay is a small island just off the northern tip of Panay in the Visayas, about seven kilometres long. White Beach, a four-kilometre curve of fine pale sand on the west coast, is divided into three stations of restaurants, bars and hotels, and a palm-shaded path runs behind it. Mount Luho, the island's highest point, has a viewpoint over the whole island.

On the east coast, Bulabog Beach has steady winds that suit kitesurfing and windsurfing in the cooler months, while Puka Shell Beach on the northern tip is wilder and quieter. Colourful outrigger sailboats called paraws carry passengers along the shore at sunset, and boats go snorkelling and island hopping to nearby islets. Willy's Rock, a small outcrop with a shrine, juts from the water at Station One.

A market where fish and shellfish are bought fresh and taken to a nearby restaurant to be cooked sums up the food here: grilled seafood, roast pig, halo-halo and calamansi juice. The west beach is calm in the drier months, and the wet season brings rain and rougher water.
