Experience the best of Anaheim & Buena Park

Anaheim began in 1857 as a wine colony founded by German settlers on the Santa Ana River, and its vineyards later gave way to citrus groves. Disneyland Park, opened in 1955, changed all that, and the city is now defined by the resort around it, with Disney California Adventure beside it. Downtown Anaheim keeps a small historic centre of brick buildings, and the Anaheim Packing District, a former citrus packing house, is now a food hall.

In Buena Park, Knott's Berry Farm grew from a roadside berry stand and chicken-dinner restaurant into an amusement park, and the boysenberry was made famous here. Angel Stadium, the baseball ground, is in Anaheim, the Santa Ana Mountains rise to the east, and the beaches of Huntington Beach and Newport Beach lie to the south-west. Mission San Juan Capistrano is further south.

Mexican food, from taquerias to sit-down restaurants, is everywhere, and Anaheim's Little Arabia, along Brookhurst Street, is lined with Middle Eastern bakeries and cafés. Korean barbecue restaurants cluster in Buena Park, and boysenberry pie is the local sweet. The climate is sunny for most of the year, with mild winters and the odd wet spell between December and March.
