About Madonna di Campiglio
Madonna di Campiglio is a ski and hiking resort in the Brenta Dolomites of Trentino, with a long history as an alpine retreat.
Madonna di Campiglio lies in a wide meadow basin at about 1,500 metres in the Val Rendena, below the pale walls of the Brenta Dolomites. The name comes from a medieval hospice for travellers on the pass, and the resort took shape in the nineteenth century, when Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Emperor Franz Joseph holidayed here in 1889.
