Highlights

Skip the lines and experience the Vatican’s three greatest landmarks in one seamless visit, ending with a self-guided climb up St Peter’s Dome with an included audioguide and a rare perspective over Vatican City plus picture-perfect views of Rome. Follow a curated route through the Vatican Museums, from the Gallery of Maps to the Pio-Clementine Museum, home to the Apollo Belvedere and the Laocoön. In the Sistine Chapel, stand beneath Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment. Then enter St Peter’s Basilica via Bernini’s Royal Staircase, once reserved for popes and royalty, while avoiding the Basilica’s external entry system in St Peter’s Square. Inside, admire Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s Baldachin. After the guided tour, take the elevator partway up the Dome, then climb to the Lantern viewpoint at the top.

  • 5A Memorable Vatican Tour with Crown Tours

We booked our Vatican tour through GetYourGuide, with Crown Tours as the provider, and had a great experience! The meeting point was easy to find, and the tour was very well organized despite the crowds and chaos inside the Vatican. Our guide, Sonia, was extremely knowledgeable, and her passion for all things Vatican-related really made the tour engaging and enjoyable. The Vatican Museums were incredibly crowded, but the Basilica was impressive and well worth seeing. We also paid extra for the dome climb, which was a wonderful way to end the tour and a great addition to the overall experience. Overall, the tour was informative, enjoyable, and well organized. Despite the crowds, Sonia made the experience memorable, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Vatican!

  • 5Passionate tour!

Henry was an incredibly passionate and knowledgeable tour guide. He was incredibly patient and knew a lot about the content we were looking at. While we were unfortunately not able to go to St. Peter’s basilica, we still were able to have lots of fun at the Vatican museum

  • 5Knowledge was exceptional

Very impressed with tour guides’s knowledge. It’s almost too much to take in at one time. Very polite and good at answering questions.

  • 5Great tour!

We really enjoyed our tour. Elena, our tour guide, was really knowledge & clearly very passionate about the Vatican, the Pope & the importance of the area. The pace of the tour was great & we never felt rushed or as if we didn't have enough time to enjoy all we wanted to see. The Dome was a really good addition and we would definitely recommend adding it on to see the Basilica from a different POV.

  • 5Must do in Rome

Stephanie was a great guide, gave "behind the scene" insights on the displays that made our visit more meaningful. The Vatican museum is huge, it can be overwhelming or boring without a guide.

About Rome

Rome layers nearly three thousand years of history into one walkable city, from the Colosseum and Forum to Baroque piazzas and Vatican art.

Ancient Rome is still in plain sight. The Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill sit together at the city's heart, the Pantheon still stands with its open oculus, and fragments of temples and aqueducts turn up between apartment blocks. Across the Tiber, Vatican City holds St Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Top-ranked sights in Rome: Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel.
