From here we start our second Uluru guided walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. The guide will take you along a short track to the Mutitjulu Waterhole – home of an ancestral water snake called Wanampi. The guide will share stories of local traditions and explain how the Anangu people traditionally used the waterhole for hunting. The caves containing rock art were used in the past by Anangu still alive today.

  • 5Excellent day would absolutely recommend.

A brilliantly organised tour with two knowledgable guides. Would absolutely recommend this trip which culminated in a bbq looking into Uluru at sunset. Magical! Look at options to stay at Yalara resort as we weren’t aware of this. Shortens the day if you want to see Uluru at sunrise too.

  • 5Safe and informative

Long day but for those with a short amount of time this full day is the best way to see this sight. Very informative guides.

  • 5Well worth the 5 hour ride from Alice Springs

The 5 hour bus ride from Alice was reasonably comfortable from the front seats. We were thankful for the 2 pit stops along the way. After changing drivers, Vad clearly demonstrated his knowledge of Uluru and the culture with various tales as we rode and walked around the site of such significance. The BBQ was a chance to chat with the other passengers in preparation for the spectacular sunset. We would request Vad for a future visit.

  • 5Uluru day trip from Alice Springs

Another amazing tour. Because of the long duration and also the 5 hours drive each way I was concerned about how it will be. It turned out to be fun, informative and enjoyable. I am still amazed how they conduct this tour many times a week. Thanks to the crew who arranged a vegan/vegetarian barbeque exclusively for three of us, cooked on a separate hot plate. What more you can expect. Both the walking tours at Uluru were interesting and information. I will try a two day tour next time.

  • 5Uluṛu- Ayers Rock

A long tour. But I will never forget it. Must to see. What an experience. And the sunset and dinner with a view. OMG. Thank you.

  • 3Good tour but probkems

Overall tour and operators were good and provided good information. Problem was in the bus used for the tour, thus was well below acceptable for the price paid. Bus was old and needed to be replaced- overhead lights did not work, AC ventilation only partially worked and virtually not at all in the back, USB phone ports were working in only 30% of seats, and to top it off the bus thermostat died in the way back to the hotel and we took an extra 1.5hours to limp back at 50 mph and limped back into Alice Springs. Viatour needs to verify conditions if busses used by contracted companies. Would not recommend this tour until Viatour does this.

About Alice Springs

Alice Springs is a small desert town in Australia's Red Centre, set among the red ridges of the MacDonnell Ranges beside the usually dry Todd River.

Alice Springs grew from a telegraph station built in 1872 beside a waterhole on the Todd River, which is usually a wide bed of dry sand. The town, called Mparntwe by the Arrernte people, lies in a gap in the MacDonnell Ranges, and Anzac Hill gives a view over its grid of streets. Aboriginal art galleries, the Desert Park and the restored Telegraph Station are among the main sights.

Top-ranked sights in Alice Springs: Standley Chasm (Angkerle Atwatye), MacDonnell Ranges, Simpsons Gap.
