  • 5A beautiful cultural evening paired with delicious food!

This was hands down the best cultural evening I’ve ever had! The kiwi hatchery was neat, the mud pools and geyser were fascinating, our guides were wonderful and the buffet dinner was abundant and absolutely delicious (I was shocked by this…it was like a gorgeous buffet on a cruise ship). The Maori experience was amazing…we learned so much in such a unique way. We visited on a Sunday so there weren’t many tradesmen in the Institute but wow…what beautiful craftsmenship to keep the Maori way going strong. You MUST stay for cocoa on the hot rocks to see the geysers lit in a special way. Worth every penny!!

  • 5Highly recommended

Great food amazing show showcasing the Māori culture. I would probably suggest doing the earlier slot if you are visiting with kids or elderly as it does get cold at night (winter time) . We missed the geyser as my group got cold and wanted to go home.

  • 5Great experience

This was a great experience that honors the Māori community. The food was delicious and the views out of this world! The show was beautiful and taking the tram out to the geyser at night was cool! Even though it did not go off. The gift shop is also full of wonderful items.

About Rotorua

Rotorua is a geothermal city on New Zealand's North Island, with steaming vents, bubbling mud, a lake and a strong Māori culture.

Rotorua sits on the shore of Lake Rotorua in the centre of the North Island, a city built on a volcanic plateau where steam rises from vents in parks and by the roadside and the smell of sulphur hangs in the air. The Te Arawa people have lived here for centuries, and their culture is visible in carved meeting houses, performances and the living village of Whakarewarewa, where residents cook food in natural steam.
