Itinerary

  1. A trip to the gas station usually warrants more of a hurried waddle to the bathroom than a commemorative TikTok. But most gas stations are not Buc-ee’s. The Texas-based (and Texas-supersized) gas and convenience store chain offers much more than a place to fuel up and grab a bag of chips. Its devoted fans make regular pilgrimages, sometimes driving hundreds of miles, to stock up on Beaver Nuggets and brisket and merch with its bucktoothed mascot’s smiling face. Even its restrooms are award-winning.

  2. What makes up the mural? Inspired by a 1940s postcard, the vibrant mural depicts Austin landmarks like the Congress Avenue Bridge, The University of Texas Tower, and Barton Springs. It was lovingly restored in 2013, thanks to donations from the community. We will stop and take pic's

About Houston

Houston is the largest city in Texas, a sprawling Gulf Coast metropolis of space history, big museums, bayou parks and food from around the world.

Houston sprawls across the flat coastal plain of south-east Texas, inland from the Gulf coast, with a skyline of towers downtown. It was founded in 1836 and named for Sam Houston, the general who won Texas independence at the Battle of San Jacinto. The San Jacinto Monument, a tall masonry column topped with a star, marks the battlefield, and Buffalo Bayou Park runs through the city, with trails, bridges and an underground cistern.

Top-ranked sights in Houston: Space Center Houston, Market Square Park, Downtown Aquarium.
