Itinerary
Experience Naha through the perspective of a local—exploring pottery lanes, peaceful gardens, and iconic monuments while learning the stories that shape daily life. This is a City Unscripted experience: flexible, personal, and entirely built around you. Before your tour, you’ll complete a short online Personalization Form so we can tailor an itinerary that matches your energy and interests. Here are some highlights to inspire your day:
Start your tour beside this symbolic lion-dog statue near Saion Square. Your host shares how these protective figures connect to Okinawan folklore, setting the stage for deeper stories throughout your walk.
Walk through the bustling aisles of this covered market, filled with produce, crafts, and local snacks. Your host introduces you to everyday ingredients and street scenes that reveal Okinawa’s rich culinary and cultural fusion.
Explore one of Naha’s most historic craft areas, home to kilns and shops preserving Ryukyuan ceramics. Wander narrow alleys lined with tiled rooftops as your host explains the importance of pottery to the city’s heritage.
"Follow this centuries-old path shaded by trees and lined with traditional walls. It’s a peaceful detour into old Naha, where your host shares reflections on local life, historical change, and scenic beauty. Duration: Pass By"
End your tour near the reconstructed gates of this former royal palace. While access to interiors may vary, the outer grounds and surrounding viewpoints offer insight into Naha’s role as the heart of the Ryukyu Kingdom.

About Naha
Naha is the capital of Okinawa, a subtropical port city with the Ryukyu kingdom's hilltop castle, a lively market street and Okinawan cooking.
Naha is the capital and main port of Okinawa Prefecture, on the west coast of Okinawa's main island in the East China Sea. For centuries it served the Ryukyu Kingdom, whose kings lived at Shuri Castle on a hill above the city, and the castle site and the nearby Tamaudun royal tombs are part of a World Heritage listing. Kokusai-dori, the International Street, runs through the centre lined with shops, and Makishi Public Market sells fish and pork.
