  5. The Höhenmatte is a large green area directly in Interlaken. The 14-hectare area offers great views of the mountains of the Jungfrau region, among other things. In this park there is not only the beautiful landscape, but also a variety of regularly held events and the landings of paragliders.

About Interlaken

Interlaken sits between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the Swiss Alps, the base for the Jungfrau region's peaks, waterfalls, trains and adventure sports.

Interlaken lies on a flat strip of land between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, which gave the town its name, with the Aare river running through it. A broad meadow, the Höhematte, faces the Jungfrau, a snow-covered peak often visible on clear days. The town grew in the 19th century as a resort, and grand hotels and a promenade, the Höheweg, remain from that time.

Top-ranked sights in Interlaken: Jungfraujoch Sphinx Observatory (Sphinx-Observatorium), Lake Brienz (Brienzersee), Lake Thun (Thunersee).
