Itinerary

  1. On this spellbinding wilderness expedition, you will travel through fjords and rain forests viewing some of the most spectacular Alaskan scenery in Southeast. You’ll see everything from wildflowers to towering mountains and top off the experience with up-close views of the Davidson Glacier. Your adventure begins aboard one of our boats custom-designed to provide an intimate viewing experience. During your 75-minute journey through North America’s deepest fjord, keep a lookout for whales, seals, and cascading waterfalls while your Naturalist guide tells you more about the area you are traveling through. Upon arrival at the remote Glacier Point beach, you will take a short, adventurous drive across the forested glacial moraines to our base camp where you will gear up in rubber boots and a life jacket. After a ¼ mile walk, the forest opens to reveal a breathtaking view of the Davidson Glacier and pristine lake below. Here you will board a 31-foot voyager canoe for a trip around the lake to view the glacier and enjoy the incredible Alaskan wilderness while your guide shares his extensive knowledge of the area. Conditions permitting, you’ll make a stop on the delta to get up close and personal with the glacier. This is an optional 1/2 to 1-mile hike over a sand and pebble beach. After returning to the base camp, enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach before your return trip on the custom designed wildlife-viewing boat .

  • 5Entertaining and great scenery.

Fun experience with great instructors. Great views. Relaxing way to see glaciers close up. The canoeing was easy.

  • 5Definitely Recommend

Great experience going into the backcountry of Alaska to get up close to a glacier. Starts with a nice boat ride out of Skagway to the bush camp where we did a short hike to the canoeing portion that took us within about 1 mile of the glacier. The views were spectacular. The hike is rocky, but not difficult for most people. We were told about the local fauna and wildlife. All in all, it was a great experience. The best part though were the guides. From the boat ride to wilderness guides, everyone was ready to share their knowledge and answer any question… and I ask a lot of questions.

  • 5This was a nice way to...

This was a nice way to see a glacier with some activity but nothing crazy. The hour long boat ride each way is completely covered with an option to go outside and has nice scenery. We saw a bunch of stellar sea lions which was fun with how noisy they are. The short hike and bus ride from the pretty beachy shore was nice. The canoe ride is very chill as they have a motor as well. You’re not going to get close enough to touch the glacier or anything but you get to walk around pretty close to it and take pictures. The guides are all very friendly and animated, they keep the energy up! We had Christian in our canoe and he was great! Our lunch was turkey and cheese sandwiches that were better than they sound with chips, granola bar, and water.

  • 5Great Day at Glacier Point!

We had such a fun day! Tanner, Laura, Dylan, and Emmaline were all very funny, kept us entertained and laughing with good stories, and had great attitudes! We got to get really close to the base of Davidson Glacier after paddling across a lake to it, and we were walking closer and closer until the arctic terns started getting a little territorial and were trying to dive bomb us to tell us to stay back. One swooped down and pooped right on a lady’s head that was in our group with us. She took it like a champ and we just wiped it off but it was awesome and definitely something we will never forget! We would totally recommend anyone to go to Glacier Point! It was the highlight of our whole Alaskan trip!

  • 2Disappointed !!!

I am very disappointed on how the trip description is not even close to what we got. Too expensive for 1 hour boat trip (to and from) and 1/2 walk and 10 min canoe trip (to and from) wilderness. Not even close to the glacier. The crew are fantastic, they make most of they have to work with.

  • 1Horrible experience too expensive

This was really horrible! For $735 you are taken on an hour long boat to an island where you walk about 1/2 mile to a small river where you row for 2 minutes, get out walk across a small way to another set of row boats, another 2 minutes… walk to Glacier Dave… look at it and the route back with 2 small short canoe rides and then walk about 1/2 mile back. No offer of any drinks, snacks, etc. back to the beach where the boat dropped you off and you get a homemade turkey sandwich with water from a cooler! Absolutely horrible experience for the cost! The captain of the boat said “give us a good review, if you did not like it….. don’t review us”

About Skagway

Skagway is a former Klondike gold rush town at the head of Alaska's Lynn Canal, with wooden boardwalks, a mountain railway and the Chilkoot Trail.

Skagway lies at the northern end of the Inside Passage, in a narrow valley of steep mountains at the head of Lynn Canal. In 1897 and 1898 it was the main entry point for tens of thousands of gold seekers heading to the Klondike, who struggled over the mountains to the goldfields of the Yukon. Its historic main street, preserved as part of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, keeps its wooden false-front buildings and boardwalks.

Top-ranked sights in Skagway: Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Skagway Overlook, Gold Rush Cemetery.
