Esquipulas is considered to be the best spot for birding at the area of Manuel Antonio and Quepos. Just about 20 minutes drive approximately from most of the hotels in Manuel Antonio. You'll be 400 mts above the sea level (great altitude for a bird watching morning). Esquipulas features a mixture of primary and secondary forest, house gardens and cattle pastures, making it home to a wide variety of birds including Tanagers, Trogons, Hummingbirds, Flycatchers, Manakins, and Toucans among many others. About Quepos
Quepos is a small Pacific port in Costa Rica beside Manuel Antonio National Park, with rainforest, white beaches and sport-fishing boats.
Quepos sits on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, a fishing town and former banana port now surrounded by oil palm plantations and forested hills. Its marina brings in boats chasing sailfish and marlin, and a small main street has shops, simple restaurants and a stretch of seafront. The town is the base for the nearby national park, a few kilometres away along a hilly road.
