Highlights

Guests on this tour will explore the rutty hilly trails that lead through this abandoned cemetery and hear intriguing stories of the pioneers laid to rest in Aspen's first burial ground. About Aspen

Aspen is a former silver-mining town in the Colorado Rockies, now a famous ski and mountain resort with a Victorian core and the Maroon Bells nearby.

Aspen sits at about 2,400 metres in the Roaring Fork Valley, hemmed in by peaks. It began as a silver camp in the 1880s, and its brick Victorian centre survives, including the Wheeler Opera House of 1889. A modern town grew around the skiing that took hold in the mid-twentieth century, and four mountains, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass, surround it.

Top-ranked sights in Aspen: Aspen Mountain (Ajax), John Denver Sanctuary, Aspen Art Museum.
