Itinerary
As you venture ten miles into the rugged interior, you will view the protected side of Catalina Island seldom seen by most visitors. Have the chance to encounter wildlife such as bison, deer, bald eagles, ravens, or even the Catalina Island fox. There is a photo opportunity around every turn as we climb to the Airport-in-the-Sky. At this stop, visit the Nature Center and peer down at one of Catalina’s original Native American gathering sites. The fee to the Catalina Island Conservancy directly supports the preservation of the animals, endangered species, and endemic plants on Catalina Island. The scenic views, the animals we saw, like the fox, the ravens, and the bison… And of course, the driver was very friendly, as was the person who explained the history of the island.

5Great Tour and Amazing Tour Guides!
LOVED this tour! The tour guides were AWESOME! So fun and our tour guide was hilarious! They went out of their way to make sure we got to see the bison. The views were amazing and they educated us on the local history. Could not recommend this tour enough!

Great informative tour of Catalina. We didn’t get a chance to see any wildlife but I figure it was because of the extreme heat. Word of caution, the road is very bumpy, if you have any back problems, you might consider that.
3No Bison on Bison tour
Good tour guide. Zero bison. We got a narrated ride to the top of the island in an open air vehicle. If you would prefer an air conditioned ride in an enclosed bus with windows, the cost is about $16 on the island. I didn't hate my time, but I felt I overpaid for something it wasn't. Again, it gift was knowledgeable and pleasant.
5Stunning views
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hour tour. The tour guide, Oscar was very knowledgeable, beautiful, stunning views and we saw a Bison. Highly recommended.

About Catalina Island
Catalina Island is a mountainous island off Southern California, with a harbour town, wild bison, a protected interior and clear kelp-filled water.
Catalina, or Santa Catalina Island, lies about 35 kilometres off the coast of Southern California, a rugged island of hills and canyons with a mild Mediterranean climate. The harbour town of Avalon fills a small bay, with brightly painted houses, golf carts instead of most cars, and the round white Casino building from 1929, which holds a ballroom and a cinema. The island was home to the Tongva people before the Spanish explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo landed in 1542.
