Itinerary
The Palazzo Civico is the seat of the Municipality of Cagliari and is located in the lower part of the Stampace district, along Via Roma.
The bastion of Saint Remy, one of the most iconic monumental structures in Cagliari, connects the Villanova district with the fortified Castello district, in the heart of the historic center. It takes its name from the Baron of Saint Remy, the first Piedmontese viceroy.
The Elephant Tower, built in 1307, is one of the symbols of medieval Cagliari and marks the entrance to the Castello district. One of its distinctive features is the sculpture of a small elephant on the south side, from which the name derives.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria is one of the most famous places of worship on the island. Let's discover the story of this beautiful building and some curiosities!
The Chapel of Santa Restituta is located in the church of the same name and is one of the oldest places of worship in the city. Let's discover its story!
Completed in 1305, the Tower of San Pancrazio, with its sturdy limestone walls, narrow loopholes and heavy portcullis, protected the northern side of the Castle. Situated about one hundred metres above sea level and developed on four floors, it reached a height of over thirty-six metres, representing an excellent observation point against possible attacks both from the sea and from the hinterland.
The San Benedetto Civic Market in Cagliari is one of the largest covered markets in Italy and a point of reference for the city. Are you looking for typical products of the city? That's your place!
The Roman amphitheatre of Cagliari, probably dating back to the end of the 2nd century AD, is located in a natural valley at the foot of the Buon Cammino hill. Let's discover the story of this impressive building!

About Cagliari
Cagliari, capital of Sardinia, is a hilltop port of medieval towers, Roman ruins and a long city beach, with flamingos on its salt lagoons.
Cagliari rises on a limestone hill above the Gulf of Cagliari, on the southern coast of Sardinia. The walled Castello quarter at the top holds the Pisan towers of San Pancrazio and the Elephant, the cathedral with its Baroque interior and terraces with sea views. A Roman amphitheatre cut into the rock, from the second century, survives lower down, and the Bastione di Saint Remy is a monumental stairway and terrace.
Top-ranked sights in Cagliari: Devil's Saddle (Sella del Diavolo), Cagliari National Museum of Archaeology (Museo Archeologico Nazionale), Molentargius - Saline Regional Park (Parco Naturale Regionale Molentargius - Saline).
