Highlights
“We will leave Puerto Viejo at 7:45 a.m. and drive for about 30 minutes to the Bribri Indigenous Reservation. There, we’ll meet an Indigenous family from the Dutsuwák clan who will share their culture, traditions, and ancestral knowledge of medicinal plants. Participants will explore a permaculture garden, taste fresh cacao fruit, and take part in the process of making traditional chocolate. In most cases, your guide will be a native Bribri guide from the Duriwak Bribri clan. On the way back, we’ll stop at a beautiful waterfall in the mountains of Talamanca, where guests can enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pool beneath the falls. After this relaxing break, we will return to Puerto Viejo.” Hope you like the inmersión Pura vida Costa Rica

5A wonderful mix of culture, chocolate and nature
We really enjoyed this tour! It was a great chance to learn about Bribri culture and see the whole chocolate-making process up close, from the cacao fruit to the finished chocolate. And of course we got to taste it along the way. The walk to the waterfall was beautiful. Our guide was warm, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about sharing his community's traditions. It felt authentic and relaxed, not touristy. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Puerto Viejo!
5Braulio was amazing!
Probably the most outstanding tour guide I have ever had. I visited in just after New Years with my partner and received exceptional service. Detailed information about the British British tribe and then we met his family at a local restaurant for lunch. Braulio then arranged a transfer to help us get over fro Puerto Viejo to Manual Antonio.
5Our tour experince
We had a great experience and learned the local colture with our guide Braulio.
5Genuine insight into the lives of the Bribri people
We found Braulio to be a very informative guide and a genuine person, and Janet and her daughter were friendly and charming, welcoming us to visit their rainforest property. We appreciated the pick-up from our house, the comfortable ride, patience in responding to all our questions, complimentary chocolate tasting and fruit. We really enjoyed the garden tour, learning about medicinal plants, the hands-on chocolate making, and the waterfall visit.
5Amazing tour
Such a wonderful trip! We had the best time.
5This was THE most amazing thing we did in Costa Rica!
This was THE most amazing thing we did in Costa Rica! We had a private trip which made it even more special. We had a wonderful knowledgable friendly and kind guide, we met an amazing local family and learnt all about how they make chocolate from the plant, through to roasting the cacao beans. We got involved in all parts of the process and then had hot chocolate with them and roasted bananas and crushed sugar cane. Then we visited a waterfall for a swim and relaxation. A phenomenal trip, thank you so much! Highly recommend.

About Limón
Limón is Costa Rica's main Caribbean port, an Afro-Caribbean city on a humid coast and the gateway to Tortuguero's canals and the Cahuita reef.
Puerto Limón is Costa Rica's principal Caribbean port, a cargo harbour and provincial capital where the coast curves beneath green hills and rain clouds. Many of its people descend from Jamaican and other West Indian workers who came in the nineteenth century to build the railway to San José, and their English-influenced Creole, music and cooking shape the city. Parque Vargas, a palm-shaded park, runs along the seafront.
