Swiss cheese is produced using high-quality milk from cows grazing on Alpine pastures, creating a wide range of flavors from mild to mature. Chocolate is another national specialty, with Switzerland known for its innovation and craftsmanship since the development of milk chocolate in the 19th century. • 3Beautiful city including...

Beautiful city including the Town Hall. Expect a ride on public transportation to get to the chocolate factory. Cheese and chocolate presentation was very informative by the owner and chocolate was delicious.

  • 5Coco review

Coco did a fantastic job. Great guide. Very knowledgeable. After traveling through the areas of Basel including riverfront spots, we finished with chocolate and cheese creations with a small chocolatier.

  • 4The tour of the city was...

The tour of the city was pretty cursory, but the information about chocolate making at the end was really interesting. I learned a lot about how the origin of the cocoa beans changes the resulting chocolate. I would recommend the tour for people looking to learn about chocolate making, but less so for people mostly interested in the city.

About Basel

Basel is a Swiss city on the Rhine where Switzerland meets France and Germany, with a red-sandstone old town, a Gothic minster and many art museums.

Basel sits on a bend of the Rhine at the point where Switzerland, France and Germany meet. Its old town climbs the left bank to Münsterplatz, where the Gothic Minster in red sandstone holds the tomb of the scholar Erasmus. The Town Hall on the Marktplatz is red too, with a painted façade, and the Middle Bridge links the old town to Kleinbasel. Small ferries pulled across the river by the current alone run between the banks.

Top-ranked sights in Basel: Basel Minster (Basler Münster).
