Experience the best of Portofino
Portofino is a pastel-painted fishing village on the Ligurian coast, with a tiny harbour, a hilltop castle and the wooded cliffs of a regional park.

Portofino curls around a small, sheltered harbour on the Ligurian Riviera, its tall pink, ochre and yellow houses reflected in the water beside the quay. Yachts and fishing boats share the harbour, and the piazzetta lined with cafés is the village's living room. A path climbs to Castello Brown, a fortress above the harbour with gardens and sea views, and the church of San Giorgio stands on a lookout.
The village lies inside a regional park of wooded cliffs and pine slopes on the Portofino peninsula. Footpaths lead to the Abbey of San Fruttuoso, a medieval monastery set in a small cove reached only on foot or by boat, where a bronze statue, the Christ of the Abyss, stands underwater offshore. Santa Margherita Ligure, Camogli and Rapallo lie along the coast, with Genoa to the west.
Liguria's food is light and herbal: pesto with trofie pasta, focaccia, anchovies, farinata and fish baked with olives and pine nuts, with Vermentino wine. The village is small and polished, busiest in summer, while spring and autumn bring softer light, and winters are mild and quiet.
