Experience the best of Medellín
Medellín is Colombia's spring-like city in the Andes, known for its cable cars, vibrant neighbourhoods and remarkable story of transformation.

The city fills a long Andean valley, with brick houses climbing the slopes and a climate mild enough to earn it the name City of Eternal Spring. Its metro and Metrocable cable cars link hillside communities to the centre and give sweeping views on the ride up toward the forests of Parque Arví.
Plaza Botero in the centre is filled with the rounded bronze sculptures of Fernando Botero, beside the Museum of Antioquia. Comuna 13, once among the most troubled districts, is now a canvas of murals, outdoor escalators and hip-hop, and the Botanical Garden and the science park of Parque Explora add green spaces and wonder. El Poblado and Laureles are the places for restaurants, cafés and late-night salsa.
The local bandeja paisa piles beans, rice, chicharrón, egg and plantain on one plate, and Colombian coffee is superb. A day trip to Guatapé, with its colourful town and the giant rock of El Peñol rising above a lake, is a favourite, and coffee farms dot the surrounding hills. The weather is pleasant all year, with rainier spells in spring and autumn, and the Flower Festival fills the streets with colour each August.
