Experience the best of Al Ain

Al Ain Oasis, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, shades a vast grove of date palms watered by ancient falaj channels that still run through it, and its paths make a peaceful walk. Al Jahili Fort and the Al Ain Palace Museum, once the home of Sheikh Zayed, recall the city's history, and Qasr Al Muwaiji is a handsome restored fort.

Jebel Hafeet rises south of the city, and a long, sweeping road climbs to its summit for sunset views, with hot springs and green lawns at its foot. The Hili Archaeological Park preserves Bronze Age tombs, the livestock and camel market keeps an old trade alive, and the large wildlife park and zoo is a favourite with families.

Emirati coffee and dates are central to hospitality here, and local restaurants serve slow-cooked rice and meat dishes. The climate is drier than on the coast, with very hot summers and pleasant winter days, and the cooler months are ideal for exploring the oases and the mountain.
