Highlights

Kitchen has always been the fulcrum of this home, where my family is living since more than 7 generations. I have always been fascinated by my grandmother's ability to prepare awesome dishes from Tuscan tradition, always with few, simple but precious ingredients. That cultural heritage was in danger of disappearing: I spent a lot of time cooking with her, trying to learn her recipes and secrets. In the end, I realized that she had given me a bigger gift: I had assimilated her cooking philosophy! Then, I realized that tradition is not a dusty book but a living thing able also to adapt to new conditions, and even improve. I studied ingredient's seasonality, their sustainable production systems, new cooking techniques, techniques of tasting: almost without realizing it, in the meantime, I became Chef and finally, also Sommelier. Since a lot of years, I decided to share this path: a long path that is not yet finished... Giacomo

  • 5Tuscan cooking class

Giacomo is a chef and sommelier, as well as an organic farmer with vineyards and olive trees. He is passionate about food and sharing his knowledge of cooking, stressing the importance of high quality ingredients. He shared traditional recipes from his grandmother and researched authentic Tuscan recipes. No cooking expertise is required, but an experienced chef would benefit from the fine points of his technique. We spent 3.5 hours cooking and then 1.5 hours eating food we prepared or watched him prepare. The choice of wine pairings for each course was explained during the meal. So no wine during the class, only coffee was offered. Our family enjoyed his passion and knowledge. The food was delicious. His wife shared with us the pictures taken during the class. Definitely wear comfort shoes. Definitely a worthy experience!

  • 5Fun, educational, and delicious!

An unforgettable experience! I learned so much about how to properly cook beautiful Italian dishes. Chef Giacomo shared and taught his grandmother’s recipes and techniques. He really cared about making sure we understood and prepared our dishes correctly. We then got to enjoy our 5 course dinner with wines expertly selected to pair with each. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  • 5Tuscan cooking delight by Giacomo

Giacomo and his wife Christiana provide an awesome cooking and eating experience. Had a wonderful time making and eating our dinner. Giacomo explains and demonstrates techniques excellently describing balance and importance of ingredients. I learned a number of new techniques that I will surely use. One of the best cooking experiences I had, I highly recommend it.

  • 5Such a special experience!

It’s been about a week since my husband and I took Giacomo cooking class and we talked about it everyday since! Giacomo taught us all about the importance of the ingredients you are cooking with and how that truly makes the dish. We have already started using the knowledge Giacomo gave us to find the right ingredients to make the gnocchi that we can’t stop thinking about! Aside from that the kindness and care that is shown from Giacomo and his wife Christina makes you feel like family. They even take pictures of you so you can have those as memories but don’t have to worry about it yourself! If you are looking for a cooking class in Montepulciano this is the one.

  • 5A Beautiful Taste of Authentic Tuscany

We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class with Giacomo. His knowledge and passion for quality ingredients are evident, yet he shares it in a wonderfully approachable way. His wife Cristiana, who runs the class alongside him, was equally lovely. We especially enjoyed hearing stories about his grandmother's cooking traditions and how he has brought them into modern technique. The kitchen and cooking areas were impeccably clean and the class was exceptionally well run and professional. One thing to note: the class is long, with about 3–3.5 hours of standing before you sit down to eat. Be sure to have lunch beforehand, as the dinner portion doesn't come until the final hour or so!

  • 2Tuscan Disappointment

Overall it was a pleasant, clean and organized experience. However, it lacked warmth and charm, it was too technical and formal. Not very hospitable, we thought we would prepare one dish and enjoy while sipping the wine, we had to stand, listen, watch, and prepare only a small potion of the food. After 5 hours everything was done, felt rushed out. Only 3 in attendance and we all had the same conclusion Definitely a disappointment and overpriced.

About Montepulciano

Montepulciano is a Renaissance hill town in southern Tuscany, known for its Vino Nobile wine, cellars beneath the palaces and wide valley views.

Montepulciano climbs a ridge, its main street rising between Renaissance palaces and towers to the Piazza Grande at the top. The square is framed by the town hall, whose tower recalls Florence's Palazzo Vecchio, the cathedral and the Palazzo Contucci, and a well decorated with griffins and lions stands in the middle. Below the town, the Church of San Biagio, a Renaissance travertine church by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, stands among cypresses.

Top-ranked sights in Montepulciano: Temple of San Biagio (Tempio di San Biagio).
