5Saw glow worms!
I was worried about the entrance to the cave because it was low and I wasn’t sure if my family and I would feel claustrophobic once in it, but it was only a short distance and it opened up. Once in, we enjoyed the walk to the boat. We saw an eel! We had enough time to sit in the dark and see the glow worms. Only wish we had time at the end to do the nature walk. Probably a short walk, but it would have been nice to do it.

5TE ANAU GLOWWORM CAVES
My husband, our 18-year-old niece, our 15-year-old nephew and I all absolutely loved it ! Being able to cross the lake by boat to the other side was absolutely beautiful, not to mention the cave tour itself. The guides were fantastic ! I highly recommend this activity ! (Made in spring)

About Te Anau
Te Anau is a small lakeside town in New Zealand's Fiordland, the gateway to Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and some of the country's finest walking tracks.
Te Anau sits on the eastern shore of Lake Te Anau, the largest lake in the South Island, on the edge of Fiordland National Park. Snow-capped mountains rise across the water and dense beech forest covers the slopes, and the park is part of the Te Wāhipounamu World Heritage area. The town is small, with a lakefront path and a wildlife centre where takahē, a rare flightless bird rediscovered in the nearby mountains in 1948, are kept.
