From its viewpoint, it is possible to have a complete view of the port, the urban part of Santos and surroundings, Bertioga Canal, Estuary and Barnabé and Santo Amaro Islands. 3. Admire the marvelous view of the shoreline of Santos and the city of "Saint Vincent" (First permanent Portuguese settlement in Brazil) from Niemeyer’s monument on the top of Porchat Island hill. You'll be able to see the whole shore, ships on the horizon, waves being formed, people like ants and paragliders flying around! The belvedere was projected by the famous Oscar Niemeyer Architect, and inaugurated in 2002 due to 500th year of Brazil's "Discovery". It purely makes this place even more special! In addition, you can enjoy a good lunch at a nice restaurant beside the Niemeyer’s monument. It is an obligatory stop while you are in Santos.

    40 min

  5. The Pelé museum presents the history of the word's most famous and genius football player, Pelé. Pelé played for Santos, which is why there is a museum dedicated to him in this city. The 5-story building museum has a very comprehensive collection of prizes and highlights about the 2 football World cups won by Pelé, photos and video footage, interesting facts about special matches, timeline of his life, and much more. The museum is English speaking friendly and doesn’t cost much to go in. A good way to spend a couple of hours in Santos.

  • 5Wonderful tour in Santos with Catharina

Our tour of Santos was absolutely fantastic, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Catharina. She has an incredible wealth of knowledge—not just about Santos, but about the state and Brazil as a whole—which she shared in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. Her journalistic insight really stood out, adding depth, context, and great storytelling to everything we saw. Catharina was also very flexible and attentive to our interests, making the experience feel personal rather than scripted. On top of that, her kind, warm personality made the entire journey a joy from start to finish. I can’t recommend her highly enough—this tour truly made our time in Santos special

About Santos

Santos is the busy port city of São Paulo state, with a long beachfront garden, old trams, a coffee museum and the football club where Pelé played.

Santos lies on São Vicente island, where the Serra do Mar mountains drop to the Atlantic. Its port, the largest in Latin America, has shipped coffee since the nineteenth century, and the old Coffee Exchange now houses the Museu do Café, with a stained-glass hall and a trading floor. Pelé spent most of his career with Santos FC, and a museum in a restored nineteenth-century mansion tells his story.
