Isola Comacina is a small wooded island of Italy's Lake Como, administratively a part of the commune of Ossuccio. It is located close to the western shore of the Como arm of the lake in front of a gulf known as Zoca de l'oli, a Lombard name referring to the local small-scale production of olive oil.
The Gardens of Villa Melzi d’Eril, among the most beautiful of Europe, rise along the shores of Lake Como near Bellagio, harmoniously inserted into the hilly landscape between the two branches of the lake. Inside the Gardens stand the Villa, the Chapel and the Orange Greenhouse (or Orangérie), now a Museum of great historical relevance. About Lake Como
Lake Como is a deep, Y-shaped lake in Lombardy, ringed by steep green mountains, pastel villages, ornate villas and terraced gardens.
Lake Como is shaped like an upside-down Y, with three arms that meet near Bellagio. At more than 400 metres deep, it is one of the deepest lakes in Europe, held between steep wooded slopes that rise towards the Alps.
