In the historical center of Conegliano develops the ancient via XX Settembre (Contrada Granda) which with the characteristic Piazza Cima, are the heart of the city. Conegliano, also known as the 'pearl of the Veneto', is located halfway between the mountain and the plain and crossing point, it has always been a strategic site.Contrada Granda, has been for centuries the economic and cultural center of the city. The street, in addition to containing the fundamental structures of the urban fabric such as the Duomo, the Accademia Theater and the Palazzo Comunale, through a succession of architraved and archivolt-lined structures with walls embellished with frescoes, welcomes wonderful palaces that were gradually born starting from the XV century. Noble and more powerful families competed to build the most impressive and magnificent palace, as a tangible sign of their wealth and nobility. In 1865, on the occasion of the sixth centenary of the birth of Dante Alighieri, instead of the ancient gate of Ruio, two towers were built, from which the current name of Porta Dante derives.

About Venice

Venice floats on a lagoon of more than a hundred islands, a city of canals, palaces and bridges with no cars, where every walk ends somewhere unexpected.

The Grand Canal sweeps through the city in a great reversed S, lined with palaces and crossed by the Rialto Bridge. Near its mouth, Piazza San Marco gathers St Mark's Basilica with its golden mosaics, the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the tall brick campanile. Water buses and gondolas show the city from the angle it was built to be seen.

Top-ranked sights in Venice: St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco), St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco), Grand Canal.
