I will pick you up with my professional van from the area of Lucca or Pisa and I will bring you up on the mountain of Carrara. We will reach the cave and we will jump in a 4x4 Jeep that can drive us inside. A professional tour guide will explain you everything about the story of this legendary place: not only how they work and they extract the marble, but also how they are producing a special wine or how to recognize a real Carrara marble from a fake one. At the end of tour, we will get out from the cave and I will drive you up in the little village of Colonnata: a very small and authentic place famous for a very tasty kind of salami... "lardo di colonnata" ! I can bring you in the best food shop to buy a piece of lard or try to book a local restaurant for a tasting! A tour off the beaten path :)

Itinerary
You will have the unique possibility to visit a real Carrara Marble Cave. This is the only tour that will give you the opportunity to get inside a cave where, still now, they are extracting pure marble.
We will visit the little village of Colonnata: the place where the "lardo" (a very tasty kind of salami) is made. The panoramic terrace will make you enjoy an amazing view of the caves of Carrara Marble. Also the remaining 1hr is for travel time 30 minutes driving outbound and 30 minutes driving on the return

5Carrara Marble Quarry with lunch in Colonnata with the lardo specialty.
This was a wonderful informational experience in the Carrara Marble Quarry. To be able to go inside the mountain is quite impressive. What made the trip most worthwhile was our exceptional guide, Raffaele. He was a wealth of knowledge about many many things & exuberant & personable. I would highly recommend this tour & guide.

Our tour was fun and fascinating. Standing inside a mountain of marble was amazing. Our guide, Raffaele, was filled with information , given in a way that made the tour fun. Our lunch of Lardo was tasty and delightful. We would highly recommend this tour and our guide.

5The best experience with a fantastic guide
We were a family of six, and we came to feel like close friends of Tommaso. He was excellent at sharing information about everything along the way to the marble quarries. We will definitely use Autoservizi Della Bidia the next time we are in Tuscany. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

We were picked up on time . We were a little confused by the instructions. Our driver Marco was very informative about the area as we traveled. The tour of the quarry was very interesting and informative. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

About Lucca
