3Nice to be on the water
It was nice to be on the catamaran for a few hours but this particular tour only goes to 2 beaches, travelling a short distance and you can swim off the boat at each. Stops are crowded with other boats. I think the tour included lunch but I wasn’t offered lunch.
5Unforgettable Boat Party with Stunning Views in Arraial do Cabo
Great experience! I really enjoyed it. It’s super fun—you’ll have a party on the boat while sailing along the beautiful Arraial do Cabo coast. The views are stunning, and the guides were amazing. I’d definitely do it again!
1AVOID, STAY IN BUZIOS
Terrible experience, much below typical Viator tours. Although being a Brazilian who loves our beaches, this tour cannot be recommended to anyone. Except for the tour guide who made an honest effort to deal with the problems, everything was bad or even worse. I will highlight only the three major issues: - The boat boarding was late by more than an hour and you have to wait in a crowded area with no seats - The boat is very old and uncomfortable - The lunch buffett offered is one of rhe worst meals I ever had. If you are in Buzios, a day at any of its 20+ beaches will be more enjoyable
3We expected a tour in...
We expected a tour in English but it was in Spanish. Often the guide was translating in English to us. But that's it.
5Pleasant experience, great guide
We were a little worry reading reviews from English speaking travelers that they did not received much attention from the guide. We were only two English speaking people on the trip as well. Our experience with guide Nay was very good. As we boarded the bus, she explained how she will handle us as only English speaking participants. When she was going to explain something, she came to us first, explained in English what is/will be happening so we did not feel lost when she was explaining it in Spanish and Portuguese. She did it through entire trip, which was great. Otherwise trip met our expectation, we enjoyed it.
3Here’s what to expect…
We were picked up from our hotel at 7:30 AM sharp in a comfortable 15-seater van. There were only 6 of us on there, so we thought “great, we’ll get to spread out.” We drove about 5 mins then stopped and were told to get on a larger ~50 passenger bus. When the 6 of us boarded the new bus, it was already full—just enough seats remaining for the 6 of us. So we were pretty packed in there (think can of sardines), and the A/C was very weak. We embarked on our hour+ journey when we soon realized that we were the only 2 native English speakers on the tour (even though the tour description stated English). Our guide warned us that her English was rusty, so essentially all we got during the entire day was a few updates in English so that we weren’t totally lost. After about an hour+ drive we finally arrived to Arraial do Cabo. We had about a 10-min walk from the bus to the pier. Once we arrived to the pier, we had to pay a port tax of R$10pp (cash only). Once we boarded the boat, a 2nd group joined us so there were about 100 of us on the boat (us still being the only 2 native English speakers). The cool thing is that the boat had a bar and grilled snacks. We were able to drink & eat then pay for everything at the end with a credit card. They also offered the option to rent snorkel equipment for R$25 (R$27 w/ credit card). We stopped at 2 beautiful beaches and a 3rd stop near some rocks for snorkeling. The boat tour ended around 1:30 PM (~4 hour duration), then we headed back to the pier to board our crowded/cramped bus to head to Cabo Frío for lunch. It was about a 30 min bus ride to Cabo Frío (note: consider using the bathroom before leaving the boat because there were no stops in between). We arrived to a gas station around 2:30 PM for what I assumed to be a pit stop, but no, it was our lunch stop. We dined at a buffet in a strip mall attached to a gas station. The food wasn’t bad, I just expected a more “traditional” experience. We were given 1-hour for lunch which was more than enough time. Food was included but all drinks (including soft drinks), desserts, and [gas station] sushi were extra. After lunch, we again boarded the cramped, sweaty bus to head back to Buzios. I know this review likely doesn’t sound like it, but we really did have an enjoyable time on the boat/visiting the beaches. If I could change anything, I would suggest a small group tour option, a truly multi-lingual guide, and a better lunch option. Overall we’re content with our decision to go, we just would’ve preferred having a better idea of what to expect beforehand, hence why I wrote this review. Hope this helps!

About Búzios
Búzios is a peninsula of rocky coves, calm beaches and a whitewashed old fishing village on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, east of the city.
Armação dos Búzios occupies a small peninsula with more than twenty beaches, from Geribá, popular with surfers, to the sheltered horseshoe bay of Ferradura. The old fishing village was little known until the 1960s, when the French actress Brigitte Bardot visited, and a statue of her now sits on the seafront promenade named after her. The Rua das Pedras, a cobbled street of shops and restaurants, is the village's main street.
