About Sibiu
Sibiu is a medieval Transylvanian town founded by Saxon settlers, with pastel squares, the Liars' Bridge and the Carpathians rising behind.
Sibiu, called Hermannstadt by the Transylvanian Saxons who settled it in the twelfth century, is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Romania. The Large Square and the Small Square are joined by pastel townhouses, and many roofs have small attic windows that look like watching eyes. The Liars' Bridge, a small iron footbridge from 1859, stands near the Small Square, and the Brukenthal Museum, in a baroque palace, is the oldest museum in Romania.
