5Amazing experience with Courtney and captain Dan
Our group of 9 had an amazing time on the Captain Cook and dolphin cruise yesterday. We were lucky enough to see rare birds, blue penguins, seals up close and plenty of dolphins throughout the trip - an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Courtney and Captain Dan were fantastic hosts: friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely easy to talk to. They made everyone feel welcome and shared so much interesting information along the way. The whole experience was well organised, relaxed and memorable. We’d absolutely recommend this cruise to anyone visiting the area and would happily book again ourselves.
3There were too many...
There were too many people for the size of the boat. We were restricted (understandably) to cabin and rear while underway. Many were forced to stand entire trip owning to limited seating.
5Great experience, seeing...
Great experience, seeing marine wildlife in its natural habitat. Knowledgeable staff with friendly attitude
5Very different then just a trip on the sound
Great wildlife. Guides were helpful. Lots of birds pointed out. Dolphins were spotted and spent some time playing with our boat.
5Excellent experience!
The sound was beautiful and the tour guide Hannah and captain Andy were super friendly. Totally worth it! Highly recommend!
4Wonderful afternoon on the water in the Marlborough Sounds
This tour was a highlight of our trip. Captain Dan and Cam were excellent hosts, and we were fortunate to see a good variety of marine and wildlife. Good value for money, we were educated and treated to some special sights and sounds in the Marlborough Sounds!

About Picton
Picton is a small ferry port at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, gateway to the Marlborough Sounds' bays, bush walks, mussel farms and wine country.
Picton lies at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, at the top of New Zealand's South Island, with green hills rising straight from the harbour. Ferries cross Cook Strait from Wellington, and the waterfront is busy with boats, cafés and a small foreshore. The Edwin Fox Maritime Museum shelters the hull of the Edwin Fox, built in 1853, one of the oldest surviving merchant ships in the world.
