  • 5E-Bikes, Wineries, and Hawkes Bay Tour

This was an all-day e-bike tour of Hawkes Bay described as 6 wineries. Not to worry, you e-bike first, wineries, lunch and tour afterward. Our guide met us at Elephant Hill winery and then we rode out to the coast, and then through the farming county. Beautiful and manageable, even for non-riders. Flat all the way. We burn out on wine tasting, so after Elephant Hill and Black Barn for lunch (excellent food and wine pairing), we had a tour of Te Mata Peak and Havelock North for Ice Cream and a visit to a honey farm. Great day, highly recommended!

  • 5Great Cycle - Great Service!

I booked the Cape Winery Cycle Tour with Takaro Trails Cycle through TripAdvisor, then booked a separated day directly with the company. Fabulous service! The company picked me up for the cycle at the gates of my hotel, The Magnapapa, for the Cape Winery Cycle (self) Tour. Within no time at all we were dropped, armed with maps. Information and bicycles to begin our day. The only restriction we had was to meet at a certain time (I think it was 4 pm). Gorgeous and easy cycle with plenty of opportunities to stop at the beautiful wineries along the route. Pay attention to the driver when he gives you specifics regarding which route to take at the bridge. I even had time to cycle for a prearranged, fabulous lunch at beautiful Craggy Range (over the steep hill) before finishing up the tour. At the end of the delightful day, the driver dropped me back off at the Magnapapa with the bike and charger, which I rented for another day. They were to pick it up again at the end of my scheduled rental, but I rode it into Napier and dropped it off there instead. Great company to work with! Recommend!

  • 5Great experience

We were picked up and dropped off right outside our hotel which was really convenient. The mini bus and trailer of bikes took us to the start point where we had a quick briefing and then set off on our bikes clutching our map. Water, helmets and locks were provided. Even though we are “mature” and unfamiliar with electric bikes everything went well. The routes were beautiful , inland and coastal and the paths were safe and easy to navigate. We enjoyed calling in at the vineyards and paced ourselves so we didn’t get too “squiffy”. Beautiful weather helped make this a very memorable trip. Our bus driver was really helpful in driving back and returning the bag I accidentally left on the bus ( there’s always one isn’t there?) which I really appreciated.Thank you.

  • 5Fantastic cycle along the beachfront and then inland to wineries

Picked up at our campsite and driven to start point. Our tour manager Roger was excellent, gave clear instructions on the e-bike, the self guided tour, the best places and vineyards to stop at en route. Easy to follow map. Fantastic day.

About Napier

Napier is an Art Deco seaside city on New Zealand's Hawke's Bay, rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake and close to vineyards and a famous gannet colony.

Napier was flattened by an earthquake in 1931, and the town was rebuilt in the styles of the day, giving it a rare concentration of Art Deco and Spanish Mission buildings. Walking tours pass pastel shopfronts with zigzag and sunburst motifs, and every February the city dresses in 1930s clothes for the Art Deco Weekend. Marine Parade runs along the shingle beach, with gardens, an aquarium and a bronze statue of Pania of the Reef.

Top-ranked sights in Napier: Mission Estate Winery, Church Road Winery.
