Itinerary

  1. Brussels is not only about the beer, waffles and chocolate! This amazing city is more than a 1000 years old. Today the name Brussels stands for the meeting point for all the diverse cultures in Europe. It is a cosmopolitan city where many different cultures live together and where different languages can be heard on each street. Brussels also has an important international vocation: as the european capital, the city is home to the European Commission and to the Council of ministers of the European Union (EU). Variety and contrast can be found in the different architectural styles of Brussels, the former capital of the medieval Duchy of Brabant. Gothic cathedrals and churches are next to – and sometimes in stark contrast with – gracious classical facades like the buildings around the Royal Square. Discover this and much more in a 2 hours walking tour that includes some of the best sightseeings of the city.

About Brussels

Brussels, Belgium's capital and a seat of European institutions, pairs a gilded Grand-Place with comic-strip murals, Art Nouveau houses and waffle stalls.

The Grand-Place is the centre of old Brussels, a cobbled square ringed by gilded guildhalls and the Gothic town hall, whose spire rises over everything. A few streets away, the small bronze Manneken Pis draws a crowd. On the hill above, the Royal Palace and the Mont des Arts gardens look down on the lower town, while the Atomium, a giant model of an iron crystal built for the 1958 World Fair, stands on the northern edge.

Top-ranked sights in Brussels: Grand-Place (Grote Markt), Manneken Pis, Royal Galleries of Saint Hubert (Les Galeries St-Hubert).
