Dingle, An Daingean in Irish, is a small fishing harbour on the Dingle Peninsula in the south-west of Ireland, in a district where Irish is still spoken in daily life. Its streets of painted shopfronts run up from the harbour, and in the evenings the pubs fill with traditional music sessions. Fishing boats still unload at the pier, and seafood is the town's trade.

The Slea Head Drive loops around the western tip of the peninsula past beehive huts, ring forts and the Gallarus Oratory, a small stone chapel shaped like an upturned boat. Off the coast lie the Blasket Islands, once home to a community of Irish-language storytellers, and the Conor Pass climbs through the mountains to the north coast. Inch Strand is a long sandy beach, and Mount Brandon rises to more than 900 metres.

Dingle pies, filled with lamb, share menus with fresh fish from the harbour and brown bread, and gin and whiskey are distilled nearby. Summer evenings are long, and the Atlantic weather can change within the hour.
