5Wonderful river cruise with family
We took a wonderful cruise up the Sittee River learning a bit about the agriculture and area itself. Tyler, our guide, was very knowledgeable and even got is some fresh coconuts off the trees for us try! The coconut water inside was a very nice treat on top of the prepared snack tray with fresh fruits, nuts, and cheeses. We enjoyed some wine while we turned into the cove for an amazing sunset view. Keiren our boat captain kept us safe and enjoying the ride the whole way. Really lovely and fun way to spend the evening. My family was really glad I booked it. Trip also allows you to see the most southern part of Hopkins since it leaves from Mangrove Marina. Don’t let the gravel road to get there deter you because it is a very well maintained marina (w/ a restroom if you need it). Definitely recommend this as an activity while in Hopkins.

About Hopkins
Hopkins is a Garifuna village on Belize's Caribbean coast, with a long beach, a drumming tradition and jungle waterfalls close by.
Hopkins lies along a palm-lined beach in Stann Creek District, a short drive south of the town of Dangriga. Garifuna people founded it in the early 1940s, and the village keeps the language, drumming and dance that UNESCO has recognised as Garifuna heritage. Wooden houses stand along sandy lanes, and fishing boats pull up on the shore beside small guesthouses and beach bars.
