  • 5A great local experience

I had a wonderful day with Ernesto- he was very knowledgeable about the city and the country. We went to a couple of food markets where we tried some typical Ecuadorian dishes - a good variety of meat, fish, vegetables and fruit- and of course locally grown coffee and chocolate. We also went to the art precinct and saw some fabulous street art. If you are into learning about local food and art this is the tour for you.

This is a solid food tour. Santiago was fabulous he took us to where locals eat and shared local cuisine . This is not fancy food but amazing local food. I highly recommend.

  • 5What an amazing (and delicious!) experience!

What an amazing tour this was! From the very start, Santiago was engaging, informative, and enthusiastic, telling us all about not only the food but also Ecuador and Quito's history, culture, etc. The food itself was absolutely delicious (how did I not know that Ecuadorian food is incredible?!), and the streets and neighborhoods and markets we traversed were interesting and fun, but it was Santiago's excellent guidework that made our experience so terrific.

  • 5Delicious Street Food Tour

We had a fabulous time on the Street Food tour in Quito with Ernesto. We tasted many amazing dishes, got to explore more of the city on foot (instead of just staying in the historic center), saw beautiful street art, and just generally had a great time. Also learned a lot about how typical Ecuadorians live. We're pescatarians and they were easily able to accommodate our diet. Definitely recommend!

Outstanding tour! Santiago is a great guide, he really cares about his country and city and it shows. We got a ton of great local historical and current information, and every bite was excellent. Highly recommend this tour, and Santiago in particular as a guide.

About Quito

Quito, Ecuador's high Andean capital, has one of the best-preserved colonial centres in Latin America, ringed by volcanoes and green mountains.

The historic centre was among the very first places named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its churches, plazas and monasteries are spectacular. La Compañía de Jesús glows with gold leaf inside, the Basilica del Voto Nacional has gargoyles shaped like Ecuadorian animals, and Plaza Grande is surrounded by the cathedral and the presidential palace.

Top-ranked sights in Quito: Cotopaxi National Park, Basilica of the National Vow (La Basílica del Voto Nacional), Independence Plaza (Plaza de la Independencia).
