About Manado
Manado is the capital of North Sulawesi in Indonesia, a harbour city on a bay below volcanoes and the gateway to the coral walls of Bunaken.
Manado spreads along a curving bay on the northern tip of Sulawesi, with volcanic peaks rising behind it and the cone of Manado Tua across the water. The city is the heartland of the Minahasa people, who are mostly Christian, and its streets hold churches as well as mosques and Chinese temples. A waterfront promenade is lined with seafood stalls at night.
