Highlights
A colorful and tasty tour around Levinsky market. Levinsky market, named after the Jewish Russian author Elhanan Leib Levinsky, was built as a trading center for the residents of the new city of Tel Aviv. Bulgarian, Bukharan, Persian, Balkan, Polish and North African newcomers mixed together to create the rich and unique blend of spices and delicacies that make the market we know and love today. The years have seen this market change from a spice wholesale center to a lively, bustling market with high quality stores and restaurants from a variety of flavors and cultures. Together we will tour the market and taste different delicacies. This is an easy walking tour fit for all ages. Walking shoes, a hat and water are recommended. About Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is Israel's Mediterranean city of white Bauhaus buildings, long beaches, street markets and a café-lined seafront beside ancient Jaffa.
Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 on sand dunes north of the old port of Jaffa and grew quickly into a city of modernist apartment blocks. Its White City, a large collection of Bauhaus and International Style buildings, is listed by UNESCO. Rothschild Boulevard is lined with these buildings and shaded by trees, and Independence Hall, where the state was declared in 1948, stands on it.
Top-ranked sights in Tel Aviv: Caesarea, Neve Tzedek (Neve Tsedek).
