Itinerary

  1. The Crane is one of the defining symbols of Gdansk and represents what little is left of the city's great trading age. Built in the mid-15th century as part of the biggest double-towered gate on the shoreline, it also served to install and remove ships' masts, and to load and unload heavy cargo from vessels docked at the quay. Incredibly, this human-powered device could hoist loads of up to 2000kg, making it the largest crane in medieval Europe.

  3. Gdansk Remontowa Shipyard is still a busy, working yard and for those interested to see ships of all sizes in different stages of repair or construction. It is so interesting to paddle and be able to see men working on ferries.

  4. Amazing kayak tour through the river Motlawa around two islands of Gdansk: Granary Island and Olowianka Island. Gdansk is quite uniquely located at the crossroads of sea and river routes, waterways of the Vistula river at the Baltic estuary, as well as the Radunia and Motlawa rivers. This had a significant impact on the city’s development. The daily living as shown in literature and drawings proves that water was the important element of the city’s life. It is important today to show Gdansk through its relation to water.

  5. Kayak tour gives a different perspective on the historical value of the Main City. Paddling through the canals allows freedom to see places ferries cannot access. We will show you a completely different Gdansk to the one you’ve seen on land.

  • 5Great Gdansk holiday memory to keep

The guide was excellent. I felt safe with his guidance on the tour. I hadn't expected to have been paddling on the main river through Gdansk centre. Delighted that I managed the challenge. Would definately book again.

  • 5An amazing tour of the city

Michael was an amazing guide! He really was so helpful with making sure we understood how to use the kayak and explaining what we were seeing along the river. The best part was how we experienced the city from a whole different perspective by being on the river. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone that is physically up for it, and Michael was truly one of the best guides I have ever had.

  • 5Had a great time with...

Had a great time with Michael our guide. Tandem kayak took a few minutes to get used to, but once settled the trip was great. Boat traffic was minimal along the canal and other than one angry swan along the way we enjoyed all the sights.

  • 5Gdańsk old and new, industrial, historic and residential.

What a great way to see Gdańsk! We loved the whole experience. Our guide Nick was excellent- very knowledgeable and looked after us really well. I thought we would just go up Motława and back the same way but it was much more than that. The water covered in duckweed made it even better. I’ve already recommended it to other people. Thank you!

  • 5The best actvity we had in Gdansk

Three hours of kayaking was the highlight of our few days in Gdańsk. The friendly guide gave clear instructions, the atmosphere while paddling through the canals was truly welcoming, and the commentary was full of interesting details about the surroundings. I recommend opting for the encounter with the swan family - it’s a really interesting adventure

About Gdańsk

Gdańsk is a Baltic port in northern Poland with a rebuilt Hanseatic old town, amber shops, a medieval crane and the shipyard where Solidarity began.

Gdańsk grew rich on the Baltic grain and timber trade, and its Main Town was rebuilt after the damage of the Second World War in the style of earlier centuries. The Long Market is the centre, with Neptune's Fountain and the Artus Court, and the gates at either end open onto the Motława River. St Mary's Church, one of the largest brick churches in the world, rises above the narrow houses.

Top-ranked sights in Gdańsk: St. Mary’s Church, Gdansk Old Town (Gdańsk Stare Miasto), Museum of the Second World War.
