  • 5Feast and Fun with Galway Food Tours

Our time with Galway Food Tours was a culinary and intellectual delight. Our guide Cat was very knowledgeable and treated us to some great history both about Galway and its relationship with local food and vendors. We especially enjoyed the stop at McCambridge's deli and fine food shop for a variety of interesting bites and beverages. The tour offered a nice overview of the different areas of the city. We got a lot of steps in along the way and did not go away hungry! They were very generous in giving us a few souvenirs to remember them by at the end of the tour--a handy Galway Food Tours tote, a great brochure containing a list of Galway restaurants and vendors, and some discounts to use over the course of our visit...which we definitely took advantage of. Thank you to Galway Food Tours for expanding our history and food horizons--and waistlines!

  • 5The Best Tour!

This was truly the best tour we could have hoped for. Sheena is so knowledgeable about Ireland culture and food trends. The various shops and restaurants had delicious and varied samples. We spent 2 weeks comparing this tour to so many others we took: by far THE BEST!!!

  • 5Awesome experience

Absolutely loved this food tour! We joined during the Galway Oyster Festival and it was one of the highlights of my stay. Holly was an outstanding guide: incredibly knowledgeable about Galway’s food, history and culture, but also warm, funny and genuinely friendly with everyone. Galway’s food scene was a wonderful discovery, made even more special thanks to her. We loved every minute!

About Galway

Galway is a harbour city on Ireland's west coast, with a pedestrian old centre, traditional music, a seaside promenade and Connemara just to the west.

Galway stands where the River Corrib meets Galway Bay, and in the Middle Ages it was ruled by fourteen merchant families known as the Tribes, who built its stone houses and quays. The Spanish Arch recalls the trade with Spain, and Eyre Square, the Latin Quarter around Shop Street and Quay Street, and the Claddagh, a former fishing village that gave its name to the Claddagh ring, form the centre. The cathedral, consecrated in 1965, stands by the river.

Top-ranked sights in Galway: Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, Galway Bay.
