Highlights

This is the best activity you can do in the afternoon in Antigua. This tour will take you to 3 mountain tops with incredible views of the city, valley, and volcanoes near and around Antigua. Our first stop is ¨El Cerro de la Cruz ¨ Antigua’s famous lookout point known as ¨The Cross¨. After getting a close-up aerial view of the colonial city, we hop back on the vehicles and head up the El Hato Mountain towards our Second stop. We arrive at our parking lot in El Hato where we hop into our 4*4 pick-up truck which takes us to the ¨HOBBITENANGO¨. This is a lord of the rings themed Eco-Park where we catch the Sunset and are able to enjoy some food, drinks, and games. Here we will go up the hill and sightsee, enjoy great views and various activities in this enchanted little forest.

  • 5Great guide and experience

This overall was a great experience regardless of not being able to catch the sunset due to cloud coverage.

  • 4ATV cruising on the streets of Antigua

The highlight of the tour is ATV riding on the streets of Antigua and near by village. Good option if there is not much you have in your list of things

  • 5Fun trip

I had never been on an ATV and another person on the tour had been in an ATV accident so we were a very nervous party of 3 people. Our guide, Daniel, was so sweet and patient. I wouldn't describe this as an easy ATV tour because you go uphill, downhill, and through cobblestone streets where cars are driving. But the ATVs were in very good condition and I never worried about my rides ability to handle the terrain. There were several groups who went out at once and the company divided us up into smaller groups which helped each group keep the pace that they wanted. Everything was included. There were no hidden fees. We all had a ton of fun despite our initial fears. Our guide took a bunch of pictures of us and sent them via WhatsApp.

  • 3I’d skip

Excursions was okay nothing amazing .. we started super late at 2:45 .. rode ATVs for a small amount of time: first stop Cerro de La Cruz and was there maybe 10minutes tops then went to Hobbitenango and that was it.. I did the sunset tour definitely didn’t think it was worth the money.. if anything drive to each location on your own so you’re not rushed on time

  • 1No Insurance at all on the vehicles

Please be advised the vehicles are not covered by insurance in any way, and they will ask you to sign a waiver saying that you are responsible for any damage to the vehicle or other people. This was not mentioned in the advertising.

  • 4Fun, but would have liked to have seen more

The ride was fun, Eric was awesome, and the trip on the truck up to Hobbitenango Park was crazy, in a good way. But, if you want to do some ATV exploring, you may want to take one of their other tours. This stops were a lot of fun, but just a little too long (90 minutes ant the park and our group was ready to leave earlier) and on a cloudy day, the views are limited. We probably should have pivoted to a couple of other locations.

About Antigua

Antigua Guatemala is a colonial city of cobbled streets, ruined churches and pastel façades, ringed by three volcanoes in the Guatemalan highlands.

Antigua was the capital of Spanish Guatemala until earthquakes in 1773 led to the move of the government to the present capital. The grid of cobbled streets and low colonial houses survived, together with the ruins of grand churches and convents, and the town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The yellow Santa Catalina Arch, with its clock tower, frames Volcán de Agua at the end of a street.

Top-ranked sights in Antigua: Antigua Central Park (Parque Central), Cerro de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross), La Merced Church (Iglesia de la Merced).
