Points forts

Vinicunca, also called “The Mountain of 7 Colors” or Rainbow Mountain Peru. It is a new tourist attraction near Cusco, Peru, located in the province of Quispicanchis. Forgotten by everyone until a few years ago, it has now become very popular. And the best part is that you can visit it in one day. According to locals, this mountain and the surrounding ones were covered with snow a few decades ago, and because of global warming, the snow has disappeared leaving them exposed and showing us an incredible view, and not just the view of the mountains, but also the Apu Ausangate, Cusco’s highest snowy peak.

Itinéraire

  1. Beginning at 4 AM, we pick you up at your hotel for a 2-hour drive south to our restaurant. Afterward, we venture to the Llaqto community's parking area, initiating a 1.5-hour hike to Rainbow Mountain, reaching 5036 meters above sea level. Along the trail, llamas and alpacas, tended by colorful shepherds, dot the landscape framed by the majestic peaks of Ausangate and Wiñayrity. We typically reach the summit between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM. Here, our knowledgeable guide elucidates the mountain's geography, ecosystem, and vibrant colors. Free time allows you to capture stunning photos. An alternative route leads to the Red Valley Viewpoint or Red Mountains, revealing a distinct Andean Desert ecosystem. Returning to the community parking, our transport takes you to a restaurant for a hearty buffet lunch. Finally, we journey back to Cusco, where you spend the night, concluding a remarkable Andean adventure.

About Cusco

Top-ranked sights in Cusco: Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo Ruins.
