1. The area is famous for its brightly coloured houses, cobbled streets and strong Cape Malay cultural heritage. Its history is closely connected to communities descended from people brought to the Cape from various parts of the Indian Ocean world during the colonial period. Visitors can walk through the colourful streets, take photographs and learn about the area’s history, architecture, food and Muslim heritage. You can also see the historic Auwal Mosque and, if time and opening hours permit, visit the Bo-Kaap Museum.

Depending on the weather and availability, guests can take the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway to the summit or enjoy the area around the lower cableway station.
