Highlights
Hi, I'm Karin, founder of daslebenspueren.at. I organise and accompany guided hikes in the vicinity of Vienna. This diverse circular hike takes us through the charming wine village of Spitz, past picturesque vineyards with breathtaking views of the Danube, and up to the historic ruins of Hinterhaus Castle. Part of the trail follows the Spitzer Weinweg, where we’ll gain fascinating insights into the region’s winemaking traditions. In autumn, wild apples, walnuts, and grapes can be found along the way, adding a seasonal treat to your adventure. If we’re lucky, we might even come across a local festival on a spring or fall weekend, offering a taste of regional culture and cuisine. This hike is particularly flexible, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced hikers. After the hike, we can try some local food and wine of the region (optional), before heading back to Vienna. Commuting time from/to Vienna is approx. 2,5 hours.

Inside the ring, St Stephen's Cathedral, with its patterned tile roof, rises above lanes of shops and cafés, and the Hofburg palace complex holds the imperial apartments, the Spanish Riding School and a museum devoted to Empress Elisabeth.
