  • 5Outstanding customer service and an unforgettable tour

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Local Guide Iceland. From the very beginning, they were incredibly helpful in informing us about all our options and what was possible for our trip. Due to a change in our travel plans, we had to modify our booking, and the team made the process completely stress-free. They were super easy to get in touch with, responsive, and provided top-notch customer service. As for the tour itself, it was fantastic! Our guide, Alex, was spectacular and made the experience truly special. The tour was easily one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip to Iceland. We cannot recommend Local Guide Iceland and Alex highly enough—if you are visiting Iceland, do yourself a favor and book with them!

  • 5Good guide, worth it

Our guide Thorir was amazing. He was knowledgeable, down to earth, experienced and safe and even took some pictures for us. There is a 25 minute drive from the pickup point and about an hour on the glacier. You learn a ton and we got to do two small ice caves.

  • 5Great Guide, Highly Recommend

We had a fantastic time walking the glacier and learning about many aspects of it, thanks to our guide. The beginner tour is not intense at all, just requires some light hiking. Shoutout to Barbara, 5/5 guide!

About Skaftafell

Skaftafell is a green pocket of Vatnajökull National Park in south-east Iceland, with glacier tongues, the Svartifoss waterfall and walking trails.

Skaftafell is a green oasis in south-east Iceland, set between black sand plains and the white ice of Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap by volume. It forms part of Vatnajökull National Park, and from the visitor centre trails lead through birch scrub and heather to glacier tongues and waterfalls. The Skaftafellsjökull, an outlet glacier, is in view from several paths, and the huge outwash plain of Skeiðarársandur stretches to the coast.
